The Heritage Cabin

Winter activities

Situated on the North Thompson River, near Vavenby, BC, The Heritage Cabin provides an authentic western homestead experience. It is located directly in the family-owned and operated Aveley Ranch which was started by the owner’s grandfather in 1906. In fact, The Heritage Cabin was the first general store in the valley. In 1914 it became the ranch workers’ bunkhouse and in 2001 it was renovated by a grandson who later lived in it with his wife. Your stay will be accented by authentic ranching all around you. Whether you observe the milking of the dairy cow in the early morning, help bottle feed lambs during the April spring special, get in on a sheep move or talk to the family horses, there is authentic ranching and pastoral life near your accommodation.

The cottage is equipped with a full kitchen, offers a fireplace and there is an outhouse 30 m away and bath and shower facilities available at the ranch house, which is 300 m away.

Aveley Ranch Tours and Hikes offers help in planning activities in Vavenby’s surrounding areas. At 40 km away, the waterfalls at Wells Gray Provincial Park in Clearwater, BC remain a popular attraction. Whitewater rafting and golf can be arranged and there are on-site bicycle rentals.
