Erin Valley Riding Stables - Land of Hidden Waters

Erin Valley Riding Stables

Located just 15 minutes from downtown Kamloops, Erin Valley Riding Stables has a short commute but a long history! Originally operating on Erin Valley Road, Henry and Maxine Mills moved from Utah to follow their dreams of owning a ranch in Canada. After a few years at Erin Valley they decided to buy bare land and build their dreams from scratch, they then moved the business to its current location on Barnhartvale Road. They couldn’t risk losing their amazing customers or credibility so they kept the name Erin Valley Riding Stables. Here, Henry and Maxine designed every building as it stands with its current purpose in mind. Backed by crowned land they knew we would never run out of trails and would be surrounded by breathtaking views.

While Henry and Maxine were fulfilling their dreams of trail rides, cattle drives, parades and lessons, their son Doug Mills was focusing on his dream of training horses. Doug travelled all over the world establishing his well-known method “Training Thru Trust”. His main goal was to create a step-by-step program to teach even the beginner riders to train the toughest horses. Doug’s program is based on clear communication and horse phycology. If they are going to ask these horses to do what they want, the least they thought they can do is learn to speak horse! They are so grateful for this program as it is the base of their horse’s training as well as the curriculum for their lesson programs and horsemanship camps.

All because Henry and Maxine had a big dream and an even bigger work ethic, this business is now being ran by a 4th generation Mills family member with the 5th generation coming close behind! The Mills Family are firm believers in the magic that comes with being around horses and a western lifestyle, they truly believe this ranch is good for your soul. Their mission today is to teach people to understand, communicate and have fun with the horses. They want every person that drives through the gate to feel at home. Whether you have never seen a horse or have been riding for years, they have trail rides or lessons for you!
